Laos’ parliament removed Bounleua Sinxayvoravong as governor of the Bank of the Lao PDR on July 2, as the country’s economic problems continued.

The national assembly approved a proposal from prime minister Sonexay Siphandone to transfer Sinxayvolavong to a position in Luang Prabang province, at the end of a biannual session that started on June 10. Specific details regarding his new role have not been disclosed.
