People: Sri Lanka appoints two new deputy governors

Sri Lanka: The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) promoted two of its assistant governors to deputy governor on June 23. Both have experience in banking supervision.

The finance minister appointed AAM Thassim and JPR Karunaratne as deputy governors. The move comes as Sri Lanka seeks to tighten its supervision regime, as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said its banks need better capital and governance. 

Thassim served as the director of bank supervision in the central bank where he has worked
