Bernanke urges regular policy reviews at BoE
Former Fed chair recommends reviews of “policy implementation and framework”
Former Federal Reserve chair Ben Bernanke has called on the Bank of England (BoE) to begin regular reviews of its policy framework.
Speaking to the UK parliament’s Treasury Committee on May 15, Bernanke said reviews are “useful” and suggested “five and six years is a reasonable timeframe”.
Though he said forecasting at the BoE had been well covered by a series of reviews in recent years, including his own recent effort, Bernanke suggested other areas of focus.
