BoJ to discuss whether to raise rates, deputy governor says
Ryozo Himino says policy-makers need to monitor wage growth and future US policies
Bank of Japan (BoJ) deputy governor Ryozo Himino has signalled the possibility of a rate hike at next week’s monetary policy meeting.
“In conducting monetary policy, it is difficult but essential to judge the right timing,” Himino said in a speech to business leaders today (January 14) in Yokohama.
He said the policy board would discuss whether to raise the policy rate at its meeting on January 23 and 24. Himino added that its decision would be based on the BoJ’s latest economic outlook, which
