Bank of Russia eases disclosure rules on digital asset firms
Moves designed to ease sanction pressure, as Nabiullina signals use of crypto for international trade
On December 13, the Bank of Russia announced it would temporarily exempt digital financial asset issuers and exchange operators from beneficial-owner disclosures. The measure is designed to reduce the impact of sanctions on the firms.
To date, the central bank has licensed three digital asset issuers: Russia’s largest bank, Sber; the tokenisation service Atomyze; and fintech Lighthouse. The announcement comes amid a number of initiatives designed to ease pressure from sanctions on the Russian
