Cambodia allows banks to handle stablecoins and backed cryptos

Central bank sets up legal framework to regulate cryptocurrency activities

The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) has introduced a regulatory framework for crypto assets, which allows commercial banks and payment service companies to provide limited crypto asset services involving backed cryptocurrencies and stablecoins.

The new regulatory framework is aimed at managing the transactions and business activities related to crypto assets, according to a directive signed by NBC governor Chea Serey on December 26.

The NBC classifies crypto assets into two categories. Group 1

Only users who have a paid subscription or are part of a corporate subscription are able to print or copy content.
