Charles III coins will circulate by end of year, says UK mint
New king will appear on 50 pence coin and commemorative issue
The UK’s Royal Mint announced on September 30 that it would release coins bearing a portrait of King Charles III into circulation before the end of the year.
The new king will appear on a 50 pence piece. Nicola Howell, the Royal Mint’s chief commercial officer, said this coin would enter general circulation by December.
He will also feature on the obverse of a £5 commemorative numismatic piece, which will be available from October 3. These £5 coins, called crowns, are usually made from copper
