IDB president faces dismissal over alleged abuse of power

Claver-Carone attacks investigation and denies alleged affair

The Inter-American Development Bank’s executive directors voted on September 22 to recommend firing president Mauricio Claver-Carone, after an investigation into his alleged abuse of office.

The vote followed an external investigation into claims Claver-Carone gave preferential treatment to an executive with whom he allegedly had an intimate relationship. The US Treasury has also issued a statement supporting the removal of Claver-Carone.
