Esther George to step down as Kansas City Fed president
George will retire in January on reaching retirement age, after 11-year tenure
The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City announced its president, Esther George, will retire in January 2023, on reaching the mandatory retirement age of 65.
A Missouri native, George grew up on a farm north of Kansas City. She holds an MBA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
She has worked at the Kansas City Fed since April 1982, when she started as a bank examiner. George was head of the division of supervision and risk management between 2001 and 2009. She then spent two years as
