BCEAO governor becomes vice-president of Côte d’Ivoire

Ecowas president Jean-Claude Brou in line to take over as central bank governor

Côte d’Ivoire president Alassane Ouattara has announced the country’s new vice-president is Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, governor of the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO).

The Ivoirian government announced Ouattara’s decision on April 19, and Ouattara’s Twitter feed broadcast the inauguration on the morning of April 20. The BCEAO website still lists Koné as governor.
