People: Bank of Korea nominates board member

South Korea: The Bank of Korea has nominated Park Ki-young to join its seven-member monetary policy committee. If confirmed by the president, Park will vote in the next policy meeting, on October 12.
Park worked briefly for the central bank in 1999 before moving to the University of Chicago to complete a PhD in economics. He worked in academia for several years before returning to the Bank of Korea in 2015 as an adviser on foreign exchange.
