Tanzania: Benno Ndulu, who served as governor of the Bank of Tanzania between 2008 and 2018, died on February 22. He was 71.

Then-president Jakaya Kikwete named Ndulu deputy governor of the central bank in 2007. Kikwete then promoted Ndulu to governor in January 2008, following the dismissal of Daudi Ballali.

Ballali’s dismissal followed an audit by Ernst & Young, which charged the central bank with a wide array of improper payments. Ballali died in 2008.

Ndulu served two terms as governor
