Senior bureaucrat at finance ministry takes role as previous governor becomes trade minister

The Gambia’s president appointed a new central bank governor in October, after making the previous governor the country’s trade minister, local media reported .

President Adama Barrow appointed Buah Saidy as central bank governor with effect from October 1, according to a report in local newspaper Foroyaa. Barrow moved governor Bakary Jammeh to the role of minister for trade, industry and employment, the newspaper said, in a report re-published by All-Africa.com on October 5.
