US citizens report better financial health than pre-pandemic
Financial wellbeing boosted by government support and return to work, central bank says
US citizens say they have higher overall levels of financial wellbeing and their finances are more resilient than before the pandemic.
The Federal Reserve highlights this counterintuitive result in its latest report on economic wellbeing. The Fed carried out two extra surveys of wellbeing this year, one in April and one in July, to measure the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In July, 77% of US citizens said they were doing “at least OK” financially, up from 72% in April and 75% in October
