What was your view about the Bank of Ghana financing the government, which has now stopped? Have there been any other major challenges to the central bank’s independence since you took office in 2017?
The Bank of Ghana’s zero financing of the government is underpinned by a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Finance. The strict adherence of the MoU takes the issue of fiscal dominance out of the picture, and has partially accounted for the disinflation process the economy
