US president Donald Trump’s attacks on Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell could undermine confidence in the central bank, Janet Yellen, former Fed chair, said on January 13.

“President Trump expressed the view that he might consider to remove the chair who did not follow the policies that he thought most desirable,” Yellen said during the Asian Financial Forum in Hong Kong. “And eventually, you’re worried about appointments of individuals, chair, vice-chair, and high positions in the Fed
