People in the US tend to say the Federal Reserve favours whichever major political party they are not personally aligned with, a new study finds.

US citizens also show some distrust of the Fed’s ability to manage inflation and unemployment, the authors document.

The paper, published by the National Bureau of Economic Research, finds 66% of Democrats believe the Fed favours Republicans, while around 60% of Republicans believe the Fed favours Democrats. Overall, 63% of participants view the Fed as
