Global house price growth slows, but China still surging
BIS figures show broad slowdown in growth, though prices are still rising fast in some places
Worldwide house price growth slowed in the second quarter of 2019, figures from the Bank for International Settlements show, though several hotspots still remain.
Real residential property prices were up 1.6% year on year in the second quarter of 2019, with growth of 1.2% in advanced economies and 1.8% in emerging markets. The BIS called this a “significant slowdown” relative to the 2.1% increase in Q1.
