German government to nominate Isabel Schnabel to ECB’s board

Economist is considered more capable of influencing monetary policy than previous German officials

The German government will nominate Isabel Schnabel to the executive board of the European Central Bank (ECB), according to press reports.

The finance minister Olaf Scholz will propose Schnabel’s nomination to the federal government on Wednesday, according to separate reports from the German daily Süddeutsche Zeitung, and the news agency Reuters.
