Bank of Israel increases level and risk of equities investment

Move comes despite disappointing returns from equities in 2018

The Bank of Israel will increase the level and the riskiness of its equities investment, it said in its latest annual investment report.

The central bank will increase the maximum level of investment in equities to 17.5% in 2019 from 15% the previous year. This is despite the fact that returns from its equities investment in 2018 were lower than the central bank’s benchmark.

In the last financial year, the portfolio return was 0.18%, below the 1.06% set as the benchmark for the portfolio’s
