The European Central Bank will start to conduct surveys of market participants’ expectations on future monetary policy decisions in April, the ECB said today (January 30).

The survey of monetary analysts (SMA) will be carried out by ECB staff with the aim to “gather regular, comprehensive, structured and systematic information on market participants’ expectations of the future evolution of key policy parameters,” says the ECB.

The central bank says it will conduct the study eight times a year
