Australia to launch new $50 note
Successful transition to new $5 and $10 notes opened door for most circulated note
The new $50 Australian banknote will enter circulation on October 18, following the introduction of $5 and $10 notes in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
The smooth transition to lower-denomination notes paved the way to the introduction of the most-widely used banknote in the new series. “We were keen for the new $5 and $10 to be well accepted before we launched the most popular note, the $50,” said the governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia Philip Lowe.
