People: Lagarde rules out transition to top EU jobs

IMF chief dismisses rumours linking her to upcoming changes in EU leadership positions; Bundesbank appoints executive board members; Thailand picks board member

Washington, DC: The managing director of the International Monetary Fund, Christine Lagarde, has dismissed today (September 12) the possibility of leaving her current position for a top job in the European Union.

In an interview with the Financial Times, Lagarde has stressed the importance of her role at the IMF. “I have a very important job here that I want to do and I’m not going to leave that beautiful vessel when there might be rough waters out there.”
