Blockchain-based payment systems lack ‘capacity and efficiency’ – DNB
DNB tests show blockchain improving security but increasing costs and slowing speed
Payment systems could be made more resilient to cyber attacks if built on a blockchain, according to the results from experiments run by the Netherlands Bank.
But the DNB says this increased security would come at a cost. “It appears that the resilience of a financial market infrastructure (FMI) against external attacks could be increased … but this is at the expense of capacity and efficiency,” the DNB said in its latest bulletin.
