Central Bank of Iraq bans payments to ‘agents’ of TikTok
Platform is “offensive to the social fabric”, says minister of communications
The Central Bank of Iraq has told all licensed financial institutions in the country to stop financial transfers to and from “agents of TikTok”.
In a letter dated November 28 and seen by Central Banking, acting deputy governor Ammar Hamad Khalaf instructs “all banks and licensed non-bank financial institutions” to halt money transfers happening via the social media platform.
The acting deputy governor also refers to a letter from the ministry of communications.
