People: BoE’s Fried promoted; Vlieghe reappointed
New appointments in the UK, European Union and Israel
UK: The Bank of England has promoted Bradley Fried to chair its oversight body, the Court. Fried previously served as deputy chair.
He will take up the new position on July 1, replacing Anthony Habgood, who steps down after four years.
“I am delighted that Brad Fried has agreed to take on this vital and demanding role for the bank,” said governor Mark Carney in a statement on May 31. “He will build on the strong foundations established by Anthony Habgood over the past four years.”
