UK: Charles Randell, a member of the Bank of England’s prudential regulation committee, has been appointed as the new chair of the Financial Conduct Authority and its sub-unit, the Payment Systems Regulator. He will replace John Griffith-Jones on April 1.

Randell was a partner at law firm Slaughter and May from 1989 to 2013, specialising in corporate finance law. He was closely involved in the response to the 2008 crisis, advising the Treasury on the resolution of Northern Rock and other banks
