Nominee set to defend independence of central bank
Jerome Powell will appear later today (November 28) before the Banking Committee of the US Senate as President Trump’s nominee as chairman of the board of governors of the Federal Reserve.
The candidate enjoys bipartisan support, and is expected to be confirmed without major resistance. However, senators are likely to touch on all the main topics the Fed faces as it transitions from the unconventional policies implemented in the wake of the crisis to a tighter stance.
