Bank of Israel invites real-time payments proposals
Central bank envisages “at least” one real-time payments infrastructure
The Bank of Israel has launched a consultation inviting proposals for the country’s first real-time retail payment system.
Documents published on November 15 request interested parties to submit proposals for “at least” one infrastructure, which could be centralised or distributed.
Several systems may end up running in parallel, as is likely to be the case in the US where the first real-time offering went live on November 15.
