Five-year extension for Riksbank governor Ingves

Swedish governor receives additional term, as opposition allegedly blocks appointment of Karolina Ekholm

Stefan Ingves today (September 29) received an extension of five years to his term as governor of Sveriges Riksbank, after support for a different candidate was blocked by opposition lawmakers.

Ingves has already served two six-year terms. A report from Reuters alleges that Sweden’s opposition blocked the appointment of Karolina Ekholm, a former Riksbank deputy and the preferred choice of the government.
