IMF explores Balkan female employment conundrum
Fund shows policies are needed to secure both supply and inclusion of women to the labour market
Targeted macroeconomic policies and structural reforms are needed to improve the quality of institutions in the western Balkans if the region is to see a higher percentage of women in the labour force.
A study carried out by the International Monetary Fund revealed nearly two-thirds of working age women are currently unemployed in the region due to “inadequate” family polices and fiscal disincentives.
