RBI launches economics blog
“Mint Street Memos” comprise brief reports and analysis from RBI economists
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched a new blog for its economists to publish brief reports or pieces of analysis in a more easily digested format than full research papers.
The first two Mint Street Memos were published on August 11, studying bank deposits after demonetisation and the “financialisation” of savings into non-banks. Both papers focus on the effects of abolishing two of India’s banknotes late last year, which pushed many people to open savings accounts for the first time.
