Dombret asks what form of international economic co-ordination is viable

It is impossible to have full global market liberalisation and national sovereignty and democracy, Bundesbank board member says

An executive board member of the Deutsche Bundesbank has said “a realistic middle ground” between populist nationalism and “hyper-globalisation” is needed to foster viable global market liberalisation.

Speaking in Tokyo on May 22, Andreas Dombret said countries should continue to focus on co-operating and harmonising regulation “where possible” but that achieving full global market liberalisation along with democracy and national sovereignty is impossible.
