BoE’s Shafik to step down early

Deputy to take up post as director of the London School of Economics

Bank of England (BoE) deputy governor Minouche Shafik is to step down more than two years before the end of her term, the central bank revealed today (September 12).

Shafik has been appointed as director of the London School of Economics (LSE), becoming the first woman to take the role on permanently, though professor Julia Black currently occupies the role as interim director.
