ECB publishes guide to its macroeconomic projections

Guide details organisation and modelling techniques of projections for eurozone economy

The European Central Bank (ECB) published today (15 July) a guide to the macroeconomic projection exercises carried out by its staff. Projections are published four times a year.

The March and September publications are mainly based on the ECB staff's own projections, the bank said. These are referred to as the Macroeconomic Projection Exercise (MPE). By contrast, the June and December equivalents – known as the Broad Macroeconomic Projection Exercise, or BMPE – are prepared jointly by staff
