Shirai returns to academia

Japan: Sayuri Shirai has taken up a new role as a guest professor at Keio University, effective April 1, after completing her term as a member of the Bank of Japan's policy board.

Shirai is a former International Monetary Fund economist, having worked at the fund between 1993 and 1998. She also holds a doctorate from Columbia University in New York.

Her post at Keio University marks a return to academia. Shirai previously taught at both Keio and Columbia. At the Bank of Japan, she was the only
