Coen looks to wider issues affecting bank resilience

Secretary general of Basel Committee highlights importance of IT systems among other factors

William Coen stressed the importance of improving corporate governance and culture, constructing better IT systems and conducting effective stress tests in a speech today (April 5).

Beyond bank capital, strong supervision and internal risk measurement, these areas are important to ensure the resilience and profitability of banks over the long-term, Coen, the secretary general of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, said.
