People: Ireland appoints first female deputy governor; Sri Lanka also names deputy
Sharon Donnery will take up the role on March 1
Ireland: The Central Bank of Ireland has appointed the first female deputy governor in its 73-year history. Sharon Donnery will take up the role on March 1.
She will be responsible for central banking functions, including economics, financial operations, and resolution and corporate affairs. Donnery will serve as alternate to governor Phillip Lane on the European Central Bank governing council.
An internal appointment, Donnery joined the bank in 1996. She has a background in financial regulation
