A former deputy governor of Bangladesh’s central bank was arrested on January 14 for allegedly concealing information related to his personal wealth.

Local media reported that Sitangshu Kumar Sur Chowdhury, who retired from the Bangladesh Bank in 2018, has been accused of amassing wealth greater than his income would have permitted.

The Anti-Corruption Commission said in a petition to the Dhaka Metropolitan Court that the former deputy governor had failed to comply with its request last October
