Honohan pressed on Irish staff and salary reforms in final days of office
Correspondence shows governor defended retention payments
Proposed reforms to the Central Bank of Ireland's staffing and salary practices will need to comply with legislation, a senior minister in the Irish government told ex-governor Patrick Honohan shortly before he stepped down.
Correspondence has been made public between Patrick Honohan, who served as governor between September 26, 2009, and November 26, 2015, and Patrick Howlin, minister for public expenditure and reform.
On November 11, 2015, Honohan wrote to Howlin to say the central bank was
