Argentine governor resigns following criticism by new president
Economist and political ally of new president is likely successor
The governor of the Central Bank of Argentina, Alejandro Vanoli, has resigned five years early, following the victory in the presidential election of a candidate who had criticised the bank's recent record.
Vanoli announced his resignation with a lengthy and emotional letter to the incumbent president, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, who appointed him to a six-year term in October 2014.
