Bank of Portugal initiates administrative proceedings against 14 banks in first half of 2014

Central bank also issued 357 recommendations

The Bank of Portugal initiated 25 "administrative offence proceedings" against 14 institutions in the first six months of the year, according to its semi-annual report on supervision, released last week.

The central bank found 129 infractions, mostly related to consumer credit (88), mortgage (16) and deposits (15), though the majority were corrected. In the same period in 2013, it initiated 26 proceedings against 13 institutions.

Between January and June, the central bank also issued 357
