Guðmundsson secures second term as Iceland governor
Incumbent secures Central Bank of Iceland top job despite bank run-in with PM
Már Guðmundsson will on August 20 start his second five-year term as governor of the Central Bank of Iceland, winning approval for the role from Iceland's minister of finance and economic affairs Bjarni Benediktsson.
Incumbent Guðmundsson fended off a challenge from Friðrik Már Baldursson and Ragnar Árnason, who are both economics professors at the University of Iceland, with Árnason also sitting on the central bank supervisory board.
