Stournaras confirmed by Greek parliament to take over at central bank
Greece: Yannis Stournaras was today approved by a Greek parliamentary committee to become the new governor of the Bank of Greece, taking over from George Provopoulos, whose term ended on June 19.
Stournaras was the country's finance minister until the start of this month, when he was replaced in a government reshuffle, which ultimately led to him taking over from Provopoulos, the man who had led Greece's financial system through the darkest days of the financial and eurozone crisis.
