Bulgarian deputy for banking supervision fights allegations of turning a blind eye

A deputy governor of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) has taken leave of his post pending the outcome of a criminal investigation into allegations of misconduct, the central bank said yesterday.

Tsvetan Gounev, deputy governor and head of banking supervision at the BNB, will stay away from the bank until the case is closed. His duties will be handled by Neli Kordovska, who heads up the banking supervision directorate.
