The Central Bank of Venezuela is to have its third president in nine months, following the latest reshuffle of president Nicolas Maduro's economic team.

Nelson Merentes will return to the central bank, which he led for four years before leaving last spring, when the newly elected Maduro appointed him finance minister. Meanwhile, the finance and ‘banking system' ministries are being merged and will be led by Rodolfo Marco Torres, a former army general, according to state media.
