Dutch paper attempts to fill gaps in European unsecured lending data

A working paper published by the Netherlands Bank on January 24 seeks to fill in the gaps in data on unsecured money-market loans in Europe.

The team of economists, from the Netherlands Bank, Bank of Italy and the European Central Bank (ECB), note that existing information sources exclude large chunks of transaction data. As an alternative, they use an enhanced version of an algorithm developed by economist Craig Furfine in 1999, which was originally applied to US money markets.
