Central Bank of the Philippines governor outlines lending transparency initiatives
The governor of the Central Bank of the Philippines, Amando Tetangco, on July 26 emphasised the need for transparency in microfinance lending, and outlined a number of central bank efforts to improve disclosure of information.
Speaking at the Microfinance Council of the Philippines' annual conference, Tetangco said it was important to "warn against over-indebtedness and other risks to microfinance, and to guide micro-entrepreneurs to handle their finances better and build ventures that last".
