Shirakawa pays respects to former Bank of Japan governor
The governor of the Bank of Japan, Masaaki Shirakawa, has paid his respects to former governor Yasushi Mieno, who died on April 15 at the age of 88.
Mieno worked at the central bank for 47 years and served as governor between 1989 and 1994. Then then became a member of the board of directors at the Bank for International Settlements.
Shirakawa said he was "deeply grieved" to learn of Mieno's death, calling him a man of "courage and thoughtfulness as well as humanity and intelligence". Shirakawa
