Kansas Fed Economic Review discusses barriers to mobile payments in US

The latest quarterly Economic Review published by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, released on April 18, discusses the barriers to take-up of mobile payments provision in the US.

Author Fumiko Hayashi writes that mobile payments "have not been widely adopted" in the US.

He said that both supply- and demand-side factors account for this. A lack of industry-wide agreement on standards is the principal supply-side challenge, according to the paper, while the "the uncertain value of mobile
